10 youngsters have made the mid-season trip to Spain, as Wolves prepare for a return to action following the conclusion of the World Cup this coming Sunday. With the reports pointing in the right direction so far, Collins wants his players to maintain their high standards, while he has also challenged those who have stepped up to the 21s to make the right decisions to remain in his thoughts for the future.
On the process of choosing players to travel
“It’s a group decision. The gaffer and his staff had seen a lot of our games which is great credit to them – they had an opinion and one or two that they had their eye on.
“Jon (Hunter-Barrett) and myself spoke were spoken to by them and between us we came up with the positions and bodies that they wanted.
“Then it’s up to the players to go there and show the first-team staff what they can do.”

On the feedback received
“The feedback’s been good. They’ve been delighted with their effort, delighted with their willingness to take on the work and the tactical side of the work.
“One or two have caught the eye more than the others, that’s how it works. What will be interesting for them is, when we do get back to some sort of normality, which ones will they want to see more of – that’s the challenge for the boys in Marbella and hopefully they’re rising to it.”
On the players currently with the under-21s maintaining their levels
“What they’ve got to keep doing is showing the spirit that they’ve shown so far. When you’re a little bit younger, a little bit less further on in your development, you have to make up for it in other ways.
“That’s what they’ve done so far. They’ve shown real spirit, graft and determination. That gets you a long way.”
