Since the devastating news of Carl Ikeme’s leukaemia diagnosis the club has been inundated with messages from fans that are keen to support our number 1 through his battle.
Our chosen charity for raising funds in support of Carl is midlands-based blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia. Former Wolves midfielder Geoff Thomas is a Patron of the Cure Leukaemia and can relate to the battle Carl has ahead of him.
“It’s 14 years since I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) and thanks to Professor Charlie Craddock CBE and the phenomenal clinical team Cure Leukaemia supports at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, I was able to win my battle with this disease.”
“The support I had then and have had since from the football community and especially my former clubs has been overwhelming and I am in no doubt that it played a huge part in giving me the strength to beat the disease. The Wolves fans did so much to help me and I know that you will help Carl through his treatment.”
“Since 2005, I’ve dedicated my life to raising funds for the people who helped save me and I know that every penny raised for Cure Leukemia will not only immediately help save others but also hasten global progress towards eradicating this terrible disease within 25 years. So please do what you can to help Cure Leukaemia and support your number 1, Carl Ikeme. Thank you”
Every penny raised in support of Carl will go towards Cure Leukaemia’s £1m Appeal to double the capacity of the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hosipital in Birmingham.
