A charitable Wolves season ticket holder who has raised almost £5,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust has been given a day to remember when he was invited to Molineux in recognition of his outstanding fundraising efforts.
Jamie Farrelly, who takes to his seat in the Steve Bull stand every home match, entered the prize draw for one of Wolves’ charitable donations to boost the charity work of Britannia FC, who have been raising money in honour of Lee Hill who died in a tragic accident in 2018.
“A lad I went to school with passed away in September last year after getting hit by a bus,” Jamie said, “and his parents approached someone I know to ask if he would be interested in organising a charity football match. He came to me and asked if I could help him.
“We put it together in December last year, and we raised £2,450. But this year, we turned it into a fun day, memorial and an evening event, and raised around £4,300 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust because it was a condition Lee had.”
Throughout the year, Wolves donate merchandise and gifts to help support the fundraising activities of good causes from across Wolverhampton and the West Midlands and conduct a yearly prize draw where one lucky supporter is invited to Molineux to receive their gift.
Jamie was the 2018/19 prize draw winner and was given a gift from the club to be used as part of an auction. He was also welcomed to Wolves to receive a special ball signed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad before being taken on a tour of Molineux.
“I really enjoyed being invited to take a look around Molineux,” Jamie added, “but it’s weird seeing the ground empty, as I’m usually here when it’s packed, so it makes a nice chance.
“It’s nice to be recognised by Wolves for this fundraising, but everything we do is about remembering Lee and raising money in his honour.
“Our fundraising is getting bigger and bigger with each event that we hold, and next year we are aiming to raise £10,000 from one event.”
