Wolves Women     2   (Stanton  68, McCann 84).

Wolves bounced back from their County Cup Final defeat with a convincing 2-0 win over Sporting Club Albion in the league in their final away game of the season.

The first half saw the teams cancel each other out, with a few chances for each side. For Wolves, Dani Selmes and Amy McCann both had shots saved, while Becky Thomas had some work to do in goal at the other end.

Captain Anna Perks took a knock on her ankle five minutes before the break, but played on as the half finished goalless.

She was forced to make way at half time for substitute Sally Stanton, while Rebecca Large was replaced by Sophie Walker.

Wolves came out fighting in the second half, taking the game to Albion, and in the 68th minute Stanton headed home to put Wolves ahead.

The goal spurred Wolves on, with a good chance for Selmes before McCann doubled the score with a stunning individual effort. She took a little flick up over the defender's head, before dinking the ball over the keeper to make it 2-0.

Captain Anna Perks said: "The first half was quite scrappy but once we got the goal we really pushed on and started to dominate the game.

"I was disappointed to have to come off, but it's best that I rest my ankle before the final game of the season next week.

"It was great to see Sally come on and score and hopefully we can round off the season in style next week."

Next Sunday 16th May sees Wolves play their last game of the season when they entertain TNS.

The game will be played at Goodrich Sports Ground, Stafford Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, with a 2pm kick-off.

TEAM: Thomas, Large (Walker 45),Seeley, Perks (Stanton 45), Salter, Morris, Bavington, Quick, Selmes, McCann, Packer. Sub Not Used: Richards.
