Wolves Women skipper Anna Perks says the team are relishing the chance to try and upset the odds against Birmingham in Wednesday's County Cup Final at Solihull Moors.
Birmingham occupy the National Premier Division in the pyramid of women's football, two tiers above Wolves, and are also going to be involved in the new Super League starting next March.
But Perks, pictured, and the Wolves side have vowed to give it everything they've got to try and bring the silverware back to Wolverhampton on Wednesday night.
"We are very much the underdogs," admitted the 24-year-old, who has been at Wolves since she was nine with the exception of two years at University.
"But that means no one expects us to win and we've got nothing to lose.
"It gives us the chance to go out and do our best and see where it takes us.
"At Wolves we've got a young side with a lot of players involved in their first final.
"We're looking forward to what should be a good occasion and giving it a go to see if we can get the result."
Wednesday's match is a repeat of the 2007 Final when Birmingham emerged victorious with England defender Laura Bassett scoring in the last minute of extra time to secure a 4-3 win.
Wolves have been knocked out in the semi finals in each of the last two years, but victories this season against Withymoor Ladies, Sporting Club Albion and Leafield Athletic have secured a place in the final.
With the final being played in Birmingham territory in Solihull, Wolves would appreciate as much support as possible, and director John Gough is hoping to attend along with Centre of Excellence players to give extra support to the gold and black cause!
"We've all got people coming along but if there are any Wolves fans out there who are interested then we would encourage them to come along to give us as much support as possible," added Perks, hoping to be fit after turning an ankle in Sunday's win against Copsewood Coventry.
A couple of the Birmingham players are certainly well known to the Wolves team.
Sally Stanton and Amy McCann dual-signed for the two clubs and played for Wolves earlier in the season as they recovered their fitness after becoming mothers.
Wolves, who have no survivors from that 2007 final still at the club, will at least be buoyed by going into the game with two successive wins in the Midland Combination table, including Sunday's 5-1 success against Copsewood Coventry.
And they have also produced some of their better football against the higher-ranked opponents.
"Last week we beat Radcliffe Olympic who are above us in the table and we're also one of the few teams to have taken a point off leaders Coventry City this season," says Perks.
"The season has been a bit disappointing in that we've drawn eight matches and if we'd managed to turn some of those into wins it could have been very different.
"But we're going into the final having won two games in a row, and so confidence is high and we are really looking forward to it."
If there's one final omen for Perks to call upon then it arrived at the weekend.
Thomas Telford School, where she teaches, won their cup final and several members of that team will be on hand to cheer Wolves on!
Kick off on Wednesday under the floodlights is 7.30pm.
