Loughborough Foxes 1 (Smith 30)
Wolves Women 3 (Packer 25, 60, 75)
Hayley Packer notched up a hat trick as Wolves impressed in a 3-1 win over Loughborough Foxes in Sunday's Midland Combination League fixture.
Unlike previous games, Wolves were quick out of the blocks and dominated midfield, creating chances from the start.
Loughborough found it hard to handle the pace of winger Packer, pictured, and in the 25th minute she was fouled outside the penalty area and Wolves awarded a free-kick.
Packer stepped up to despatch her shot into the net from 25 yards out, putting Wolves ahead.
Loughborough didn't really create much, but they were awarded a corner in the 30th minute, which Smith bent straight into the net to level the score.
The second half saw Packer do exactly the same from the same corner, as she put Wolves back into the lead in the 60th minute.
With Wolves dominating play, Packer's third goal came some 15 minutes later. She received the ball, cut inside, turned the defender, and struck it first time into the bottom left-hand corner to claim her hat trick.
Manager James Astle said: "We should have had more goals, but I'm pleased we've got another win under our belts, and we played some beautiful football.
"We dominated possession, had some great build-up play and a lot of shots on target.
"Both Kirstie Bavington and Rebecca Large came close to scoring towards the end, and Large did particularly well starting up front in an unfamiliar role due to a last minute injury to Sophie Richards.
"I'm really pleased for Hayley Packer getting her hat-trick, but unlike the Premier League, she wasn't allowed to keep the match ball!"
* Next Sunday 18th April sees Wolves host Rotherham United. The game will be played at Goodrich Sports Ground, Stafford Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, with a 2pm kick-off.
TEAM: Thomas, Widdal (Longhurst 67), Bradford (Durnall 45), Perks, Salter, Morris, Bavington, Quick, Selmes, Large, Packer.
