Wolves Women 4 (Quick 17, McCann 59 (pen), 90; Selmes 62)
Leicester City Ladies FC 0
After a week's break Wolves came back firing on all cylinders to record a 4-0 win over Leicester City Ladies on Sunday afternoon.
Wolves had a couple of early chances before Hayley Packer's cross into a crowded area was eventually tapped home by Amber Quick, pictured, to put Wolves ahead on 17 minutes.
Wolves continued to press with Sophie Richards, Amy McCann and Packer all coming close, but the second goal eluded them and the half finished one-nil.
The first minute of the second half saw Wolves awarded a penalty as Packer was brought down in the box. Dani Selmes stepped up to take the kick, but her shot was well saved by the Leicester keeper.
Wolves started to dominate, with Selmes and McCann both having shots saved. In the 58th minute, as Selmes was through on goal, she was brought down in the area to win Wolves a second penalty.
This time Amy McCann stepped up and placed the ball low to the keeper's right, only for the penalty to be disallowed for encroachment. She calmly despatched her second attempt into the same spot to extend Wolves' advantage.
McCann set up the third goal, which came just three minutes later with a through ball for Selmes to run onto and beat the keeper.
Wolves continued to pile on the pressure, leaving keeper Naomi Bruton with very little to do, but she was called upon to make an excellent double save in the 80th minute to preserve her clean sheet.
Wolves' persistence finally paid off at the end of the game when it was McCann's turn to get on the end of a nice through ball. She flicked it round the keeper to make it 4-0.
Manager James Astle said: "It's good to score some goals and get back to our game in terms of the ability to finish.
"We could have scored more - with one off the line and one off the bar.
"Sally Stanton bossed the midfield and earned her Player of the Match Award.
"The amount of possession we had meant the amount of chances improved vastly, and this week we actually converted some of those chances to goals."
