David Davis is a young midfield player from Smethwick who shows good versatility and all round game and is adept in possession.

He has also played at right back as well as in the engine room.

Initially scouted by Wolves' then recruitment officer Tony Lacey while playing for West Midlands County Schoolboys, Davis had previously trained with Walsall's youth team before eventually joining Wolves.

He signed his first professional contract towards the end of the 2008/09 season.

Davis's elder brother Dion Scott played professional football for Walsall, Mansfield and Kidderminster.

Davis made his senior debut after joining League Two side Darlington on loan in October, 2009, making a total of six appearances for the club.

He joined Walsall on loan in September, 2010, making his Saddlers debut in a 3-2 away defeat to Rochdale.

After seven appearances with the Saddlers, he returned to Wolves and was an unused substitute on five occasions, including the away game at Chelsea.

He then spent the second half of the season with Shrewsbury, notching two goals from 21 appearances and helping the Shrews reach the League Two play-offs, where they were beaten at the semi final stage by Torquay.
