Wayne Hennessey, from Anglesey, is another product of the club's youth system. He signed his first professional contract as an 18-year-old in April 2005.

A Welsh international, Hennessey represented his country at under 19 and under 21 levels before making a surprise senior debut, against New Zealand, in May 2007.

In August 2006 Hennessey joined Bristol City on a one month loan deal but suffered a shoulder injury after making just one substitute appearance and returned to Molineux. He later joined Stockport County on loan, in January 2007. During his time at Edgeley Park he produced a record-breaking run of nine consecutive clean sheets in Stockport wins.

He returned to Wolves and made his senior debut for the club, covering for the injured Matt Murray, in the play-off semi-finals against West Bromwich Albion.

A League ever present in 2007/08, he kept 19 clean sheets, was voted Wolves' Player of the Year as well as being named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

He also became a regular in the full Welsh team.

Hennessey was sent off at Preston in the early stages of the 2008/09 season, losing that long ever present record, and then lost his place to Carl Ikeme before returning to the side.

He produced a strong finish to the season in helping Wolves into the Barclays Premier League, and ultimately featured in 34 of the 46 league games.

Hennessey also started the Premier League campaign as first choice before losing his place in November, 2009.

His desire to return strongly and challenge for a place in the team was illustrated by the signing of a new five-year contract in July, 2010.

And he duly did win his place back during the 2010/11 season, making 24 successive appearances in the Premier League, and showing the sort of form which secured third place in the club's Player of the Year awards.
