Wayne, from Anglesey, is another product of the club's youth system. He signed his first professional contract as an 18-year-old in April 2005.
A Welsh international, Wayne represented his country at under 19 and under 21 levels before making a surprise senior debut, against New Zealand, in May 2007.
In August 2006 Wayne joined Bristol City on a one month loan deal but suffered a shoulder injury after making just one substitute appearance and returned to Molineux. He later joined Stockport County on loan, in January 2007. During his time at Edgeley Park he produced a record-breaking run of nine consecutive clean sheets.
He returned to Wolves and made his senior debut for the club, covering for the injured Matt Murray, in the play-off semi-finals. A League ever present in 2007/08, he kept 19 clean sheets and became a regular in the full Welsh team.
