A left sided midfielder who enjoys playing on either wing and can also play up front, Matt Jarvis joined Wolves in June, 2007, from Gillingham signing a two year contract with Wolves having the option of an additional year.
Although out of contract at Priestfield, as he was under 24 Wolves paid an undisclosed compensation fee to the Kent club for his services.
Jarvis, who was named in the 2006/07 PFA League One Team of the Year, began his career at Millwall spending five years at the New Den before switching to Gillingham where he served his apprenticeship.
Sporting prowess obviously runs in the Jarvis family. Jarvis, who scored Gillingham's Goal of the Season in the 2005/06 campaign, is the son of Nick and Linda Jarvis who were both ranked as England's number one table tennis players.
His first season at Molineux was unfortunately a mixed one as he suffered a hip injury during the pre-season programme before producing some impressive displays over the second half of the campaign.
Having made a blistering start to the 2008/09 season Jarvis then suffered a hamstring tear against Reading on September 30, returning as a substitute at QPR on December 6.
He finished the Championship-winning campaign with a total of 28 league appearances and three goals, including a crucial equaliser at Derby on Easter Monday that proved the prelude to Andy Keogh's dramatic late winner.
Jarvis was one of the players who went on to look very much at home in the Barclays Premier League, featuring in 34 of the 38 fixtures and missing out on three of the other four because of injury.
He also chipped in with four goals, three of which came in the league.
Ironically Jarvis scored his first ever senior goal against Wolves, the winner for Gillingham in Dave Jones' last game in charge in October, 2004.
His excellent form earned him a new contract which was signed a few weeks into the 2010/11 season, a five year deal extending his Molineux stay to 2015.
And things got even better for Jarvis as the 2010/11 season continued.
Some excellent early season form saw him named in several provisional England squads, finally getting through to the squad proper for the fixtures with Wales and Ghana in March, 2011.
In coming off the bench in the latter stages of the game with Ghana, Jarvis became the first Wolves player for over 20 years to become a senior England international.
Of Wolves' 38 league games, Jarvis started 34 and came off the bench in three others, scoring four goals.
And his superb season saw him crowned a fully deserved 'double' winner at the end of the season scooping both the Supporters' and Players' Player of the Year awards.
