George Elokobi joined Wolves from Colchester in the transfer window of January 2008, signing a two and a half year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The Cameroon-born defender joined the Us in the summer of 2004 from non-league Dulwich Hamlet.

He was to make over 40 appearances for the Essex side as well as a handful in a short loan with Chester City.

Playing at left-back, Elokobi became an instant hit with the fans following his debut game at Blackpool in February and he kept his place in the team for the remainder of the season apart from the FA Cup tie at Cardiff as he was cup-tied.

In fine form at the start of the 2008/09 campaign, Elokobi suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury at Ipswich at the end of August which prompted a long and hard road to recovery.

But his attitude and previous form was such that he was handed a 12-month contract extension in February, 2009, tying him to the club until 2011.

And incredibly he made it back in time for a cameo appearance as a late substitute on the final day of the season as Wolves celebrated the Championship title with a win against Doncaster.

Elokobi's rags to riches story continued as he came off the bench to make his Premier League debut from the bench in the defeat at Manchester City in August, 2009.

Having lost his place to Stephen Ward, he returned strongly to finish the season as first choice left back, ultimately marking his rookie top flight campaign with 17 league starts and five outings as substitute.

This earned him a new deal at the start of the 2010/11 season, a three-year agreement extending his Molineux stay until the summer of 2013.

He made 32 appearances in all competitions in the ensuing season, scoring three goals in the process two of which came against Manchester United.

He also moved closer to a lifelong dream of representing Cameroon, being called up first for a training camp and then an African Nations Cup tie but headed into the 2011/12 season still awaiting his first cap.
