Despite interest from his former club, and tonight's visitors, Ipswich Town, Jamie Clapham says his heart was set on joining Wolves and he is looking forward to locking horns with some of his old team-mates this evening.

Jamie joined Wolves as a free agent in July after spending three and a half years with Birmingham. Prior to his move to St Andrew's the defender/midfielder had made over 200 appearances for Town in a five year stint at Portman Road.

He said: "There were a couple of conversations with Ipswich earlier in the summer after I'd been released by Birmingham. But then it all went quiet.

"It was only when I was talking with Wolves that I heard anything from them again and, by then, it was too late - my heart was set on coming to Molineux.

"I still know some of the players from my time at Portman Road - people like Matt Richards, Richard Naylor and Fabian Wilnis as well as the manager, Jim Magilton.

"Ipswich is a lovely family club and I wish them well but now I'm a Wolves player and I'm looking forward to every game."

Speaking of his debut at Plymouth on Saturday, Jamie added: "It was a tough game but we were delighted with the result.

"The tempo was quite frantic, especially in the opening ten minutes, but I think we did pretty well overall. It was a difficult match and it won't be easy for teams that go there. So, to go and get the result we got was a great boost.

"The players stuck at it and worked hard but we have to do that in every game."

Jamie almost snatched a late goal when he moved forward in the dying seconds - his shot going inches wide of the far post.

"Actually, the keeper got a touch although the ref gave a goal kick," he explained. "I don't think it was going in - I think it would probably have hit the post.

"But it's an area that I like to get into and it's a good string to the bow for myself and the club that I can play in left midfield as well as at full-back."
