Wolves winger Matt Jarvis has today put pen to paper on a new five-year deal to commit himself to Molineux until 2015.

The winger has been in talks over a new deal for a "long period of time", and negotiations were concluded this morning ahead of tomorrow's trip to Fulham.

Jarvis had two years remaining on his previous contract, but has been rewarded for an impressive first season in the Barclays Premier League, making 34 league appearances and chipping in with three goals as well as a fourth in the FA Cup.

Indeed his development has been such that he was reported to be in the frame for a possible England call-up for the recent Euro 2012 qualifiers with Bulgaria and Switzerland.

"We've been talking to Matt and his representative for a long period of time," says Wolves CEO Jez Moxey.

"He was very keen to commit to us and we were very keen to commit to him.

"Matt is a highly talented player who fits in with our policy of developing good young players and aiming to keep them at Molineux.

"He started 30 games in the Premier League last season and did very well.

"He had less than two years remaining on his contract, and it was the right time to do something.

"There was a lot of speculation linking him to a possible England call-up for the recent qualifiers which shows the progress he has been making.

"And we are confident he still has more improvement to come."

Jarvis arrived at Molineux  from Gillingham in June, 2007, having previously served his apprenticeship at Millwall.

Ironically he had scored his first goal for Gillingham against Wolves, the winner in Dave Jones' last game in charge in October, 2004.

After a first Molineux campaign which was hampered by a pre-season hip injury, Jarvis played a key part in the Championship winning 2008/09 season, making 28 league appearances and scoring three goals, one of which was the crucial equaliser at Derby on Easter Monday prior to Andy Keogh's dramatic late winner.

He then followed up by impressing again in the Premier League and headed into the current campaign aiming to build on the achievements of his first top flight season.
