Doyle Getting Back To His Best

Posted on: Tue 07 Sep 2010

Boss Mick McCarthy believes Kevin Doyle is now ready to hit the heights of best form after coming through some pre-season injury niggles.

One of the stand-out Wolves' performers of last season, Doyle was affected in the latter stages of pre-season by hamstring and then calf problems which saw him miss the opening game of the season against Stoke.

But he appears to be gradually coming to the boil, producing an impressive display leading the line for the Republic of Ireland in Armenia on Friday and set to figure again for his country against Andorra this evening.

"I watched the Ireland game," said Mick.

"And I think Doyler is getting back to his best now.

"He was still a bit ring-rusty from coming back this pre-season after carrying a bit of a hamstring problem and then a calf injury.

"He'd never really got to full tilt but he'll probably get another game tonight.

"I'm sure he'll put in another performance and he'll probably get a goal because they will beat Andorra."

Mick continued:  "It takes games to get back to your best, not just training but game time on the pitch.

"The more games he played last year the better he got, it was incredible.

"He just needs those again and the more he gets the better he'll be."
