Bent Excited To Get Started

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

An "excited" Marcus Bent today looked ahead to a great opportunity with Wolves after moving from Birmingham on loan.

The experienced 32-year-old striker completed the formalities of the temporary switch from across the Midlands and trained with the remainder of the squad not away on international duty.

Bent, who joins a striking department already made up of Kevin Doyle, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Steven Fletcher, admits he was delighted at the interest from boss Mick McCarthy.

"It's exciting for me," said the frontman.

"This is a great opportunity for me with an enthusiastic and experienced manager and a lot of talented players.

"For the manager to show confidence in me and want me to come and play for Wolves means a lot.

"It's all come about fairly quickly when I got a call off my agent.

"He said Mick and Wolves were interested and would like to me come and sign.

"It's good to be able to join another Premier League club and Wolves did well last season just like Birmingham.

"There are a lot of good players here and it will be nice to be a part of it."

Bent, who struck four goals for Birmingham's reserves in a friendly a fortnight ago, admits he faces a fight to get into the team given Wolves' impressive start to the season and the quality of strikers already at the club.

But he is up for the battle.

"I know I'm not coming here to go straight into the side and I know the boys have been playing very well up front and throughout the team.

"They've had a good few results already this season.

"I'm like everyone else, I just want to win a place in the team and improve both for myself and to help the team."
