Sylvan Ebanks-Blake admits it was always going to be a battling encounter as Wolves locked horns with Newcastle.
With Wolves into their second successive season back in the Barclays Premier League, and Newcastle back in the division following relegation, survival and stability are probably the overriding ambitions for both which prompted a hard-fought and competitive 90 minutes at Molineux.
Ebanks-Blake broke the deadlock before half time, only for his Newcastle equivalent Andy Carroll to hit back in the second half to earn the Toon Army a share of the spoils.
Wolves could have had a second half penalty when Matt Jarvis was felled by James Perch, but Ebanks-Blake was left reflecting on a point gained having been impressed by Newcastle's performance.
"It was a battle out there from minute one but it was always going to be that way," said the striker.
"Newcastle are a physical team with Smith and Barton in the middle and we like to mix it as well.
"We were up to the battle and up to the challenge and could have won the game but we'll take a point.
"I'd like to think it was a penalty but it wasn't given so while we're disappointed we're not going to cry over spilt milk.
"We'll take a point and go into the international break unbeaten which we are delighted with.
"Newcastle are a good team, one of the better ones that have come up from the Championship with a lot of Premier League experience.
"We knew it would be difficult and tried to take the game to them and for a lot of the time it was a battle."
For the second successive weekend, having struck an equaliser at Everton previously, Ebanks-Blake was left deflecting any personal praise onto the team after Saturday's 1-1 draw.
It's been an excellent start to the campaign for the striker with two goals already, but so too Wolves who have taken five points from three games.
"I'm delighted with my start to the season but more delighted with the team's start," he said.
"We're unbeaten in three Premier League games and are very happy with that.
"I was delighted with the goal.

"It was a great ball from Jelle and then I managed to bring the ball down and hit it through the keeper's legs.
"But I always say I don't like talking about myself - this is a big season for Wolves as a football club and I'm just part of that.
"Hopefully we can keep picking up points and stay in the league which is the most important thing regardless of what I do or what anyone else does.
"As long as we do it as a team that's the main thing."
