David Jones believes Wolves' tight knit spirit both on and off the pitch will play a major part in their survival bid this season.
A sense of togetherness and camaraderie has proved a cornerstone of Wolves' successes over the last two years, coupled of course with the sort of quality which saw them first secure - and then hang onto - top flight status.
And Jones believes that spirit, once again to the fore in Saturday's opening day against Stoke, could prove crucial.
"We socialise together all the time and I think that shows on the pitch because we've got a good understanding and mutual respect for each other as well," he said.
"I think myself and Karl (Henry) in midfield are a good mix.
"Even off the pitch we're always talking about how we want to play and I think that will show even more this season because of how our understanding has developed.
"That can only be good for the team and, as the manager has said, he looks at the characters of the players he brings in.
"It's such a close-knit team because we even spend a lot of time together off the pitch.
"Everyone socialises together and we're all good mates.
"I think that spirit been one of the things over the two years I've been here that have seen us promoted and stay in the Premier League."
Jones, who believes he matured as a player during his run in the team over the second half of last season, is mindful of Wolves not getting carried away in the wake of the three points picked up on the opening day.
But he was pleased to see plenty of positives along the way.
"It was the first game of the season and I'm not going to get carried away," he added.
"It was a great performance from everyone.
"We've got a really difficult game on Saturday at Everton, but we've had a really good start.
"We've added a bit more quality with the summer signings, and if we show that as well as that close-knit team spirit, then that extra quality will make a difference.
"It provided what will hopefully be a good indication, but it was only the first day, and you see some crazy results, like Blackpool winning 4-0 at Wigan.
"But there were some good signs against Stoke - we played 4-4-2 with Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and they both looked good."
Wolves are offering special reduced price hospitality for the Carling Cup clash with Southend United next Tuesday (24 January) from just £30 per person (plus VAT).
