Sam Vokes has joined Bristol City on loan until Christmas.
The Welsh international joined Wolves from Bournemouth shortly after the conclusion of the 2007/8 campaign for an undisclosed fee.
In total he made 48 appearances for Wolves, 38 of them from the bench, and scored eight goals.
At the end of 2009 he spent three months on loan at Elland Road making eight appearances Leeds United before returning to Molineux.
Mick McCarthy said: "Sam made a huge leap when he joined us from Bournemouth, as we were a top Championship side at the time and he contributed to our success in getting promoted to the Premier League.
"Then, because of that success, we signed other players making it more difficult for him to get a spot in the starting line up.
"Good players need more games and I'm hoping that Sam will get some regular football at Bristol because he is more than capable of playing in the Championship.
"The only way that he will improve is by playing week in, week out and at the moment I can't guarantee that for him here."
