Fixture Change For Trip To Wigan

Posted on: Fri 23 Jul 2010

Wolves' trip to Wigan has reverted back to its original date of Saturday, October 2 - but with a kick off time of 12.45pm to be screened live by Sky Sports.

Having been selected for live coverage, the fixture had initially been switched to an 8pm kick off on Monday, October 4.

But the following weekend sees a double header of internationals taking place at which both clubs are expected to be heavily represented.

For example, games already scheduled for Friday, October 8 include fixtures for Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

New FIFA regulations coming into force on October 1 are extending the call-up period for players to report for duty to five days (including the game) when there is a double-header of internationals over the weekend.

As a result the date of Monday, October 4 comes into that timespan prompting the fixture change back to the Saturday.

Sky have decided to retain the game for television coverage hence the 12.45p kick off time at the DW Stadium.
