Wolves Wait On Zubar

Posted on: Mon 19 Jul 2010

Wolves are waiting on the extent of Ronald Zubar's injury after the defender hobbled out of Saturday's first pre-season friendly with Bohemians.

The Frenchman went down on his ankle in the Wolves penalty area and left the stadium on crutches with his foot in a protective boot.

He was being assessed again today with the possibility of going for a scan if the injury hadn't improved.

"A ball came across and I tried to turn but my ankle twisted and it gave me a bad feeling - it was painful," said Zubar.

"It's a little bit sore and swollen, so I've keep the protective boot on it for a couple of days.

"I've had it treated over the weekend and I'll probably have it scanned today and we'll see what the problem is inside.

"Hopefully, if there's nothing wrong, I'll be back in training tomorrow.

"It was disappointing because it was the first game back and I want to prove myself and keep it going after last season.

"But we won and I played 20 minutes.

"Hopefully I'll be OK for next weekend."

Tomorrow's friendly with Walsall meanwhile will see boss Mick McCarthy give a chance to those among the first team squad who didn't start Saturday's friendly.

And that looks set to give Geoffrey Mujangi Bia the chance to build on his lively cameo and goal after coming off the bench at the weekend.

"Geoffrey's got something for certain," says Mick.

"He's been training really well.

"The lads that finished the game will all start against Walsall."
