Hunt Straining At The Leash!

Posted on: Tue 13 Jul 2010

Stephen Hunt admits he's desperate to get his Wolves career off to a flyer despite his current injury - and that the club's medical staff are already having to rein him in!

Hunt is one of the recovering players still travelling to Ireland tomorrow to continue their rehabilitation as the entire squad head to Dublin for a four-day training camp and friendly with Bohemians.

And he admits that caution will have to prevail with his recovery from a foot injury which will see him miss the early part of the season.

"The physio has got to know me pretty quickly - he put the reins on me straight away!" says Hunt.

"He's told me 'take your time and once you're back, you'll be fit for the rest of the season - you don't want to be picking up niggling injuries by coming back too soon'.

"I've had a look at the fixture list and I've got one or two games in mind for myself, but the physio has targeted other games.

"There are some big local derbies coming up, so we'll see how we go.

"But I don't know how my recovery will go - some weeks could go well and others I could just hit a standstill.

"Providing I don't go backwards, I won't mind."

As the fourth and currently most recent new arrival to Molineux this summer, Hunt followed fellow former Hull team-mate Steven Mouyokolo in making the move from Humberside.

He believes the French-born defender will prove a major asset over the coming season.

"He's 6ft 3ins and he's got a presence," said Hunt.

"Sometimes you can tell when players are going to do well: He's been over in England for a year and his English is pretty good.

"He's got a good manner about him and he played well for Hull.

"He was one of their better players towards the end of the season and that's what attracted Wolves.

"He's a young lad and a nice kid, he wins his headers and he's going to get better.

"He scored a good goal against Chelsea earlier this year and he's got a lot of potential.

"But the two lads who played centre-back here towards the end of the season played well, so he'll have to work hard to get into the team."
