Wolves will be going all-out to try and finish the season in a positive fashion against Sunderland tomorrow - and after that the summer recruitment plans already being talked about will start to gather pace.
Boss Mick McCarthy is targeting a 14th placed finish, only possible if Wolves overcome a Black Cats side themselves aiming for the top ten, ahead of the curtain coming down on a season in which the Molineux Men have achieved their initial ambition of staying in the league.
And Mick is set for regular contact with Chairman Steve Morgan and Chief Executive Jez Moxey as Wolves aim to strengthen during the close-season.
"I am more than clear what I want. Of course I am," said Mick.
"We have a strategic plan.
"Steve, Jez and myself will sit down and talk about it and that is just what we've always done and continued to do, or we'll talk on the phone.
"Nothing has changed from last season, it's still the same machinations.
"We have a fair plan and it is flexible'ish, but if I've got a budget there's no point me going around saying I want that player when its over the budget - it would be barmy.
"So I look at players that are within that, who we can sign.
"Besides which you start looking at players that are over the budget then they don't want to come.
"They want top six, so you have to be realistic.
"Be ambitious by all means, but not that ambitious that you keep trying and trying and get knocked back because somebody else comes in from somewhere."
Mick, who admits it "won't be easy" to bring in another early marquee signing in the manner of Kevin Doyle last summer, believes the players would welcome any new arrivals as a sign of intent for the club to make progress in the season ahead.
"I would like to improve the squad and every manager in the Premier League is the same," he added.
"I would like to improve it with players of a similar ilk, same work ethic, same attitude and the same selfless attitude that the team has had this season.
"Without that spirit, endeavour, graft and professionalism we would have been relegated.
"If I was a player I would be looking at and saying I want help, I want better players.
"I want to have a stronger team, they want to play in a stronger team and win more games and be in a more comfortable position and hopefully we can achieve that.
"But it won't be easy."
