Matt Jarvis is still hopeful of featuring again this season after expressing his delight at coming through almost the entire campaign unscathed.
Jarvis missed last weekend's draw with Blackburn due to a thigh injury, the first time he had been unavailable during the season.
He has an outside chance of being back for the game with Portsmouth on Saturday or, if not, more of a shout for what is sure to be a celebratory atmosphere in store on the final day against Sunderland.
"It's coming along - I'd love to be back for the last game of the season," he said.
"I've been trying to push on this week and we'll see where we are tomorrow with it.
"I'm not ruling myself out of Saturday's game so we'll have to see, but I'd love to be back and playing because of the freedom of playing with us being safe.
"I felt it during the Fulham game and I tried everything to be fit for the Blackburn match.
"But as I tried to get involved more in training, I tweaked it even more, so unfortunately I had to rule myself out of that game and try to get as much treatment as I can to try to be involved the following week."
Jarvis had made 33 appearances out of 35 games prior to his injury, a hugely positive return for a winger who had suffered hamstring problems in previous seasons.
He added: "I've nearly made it through the whole season being fully fit, but hopefully this is only a minor thing that will only keep me out for one, possibly two games and then I can be back out there playing and enjoying it.
"I've been delighted with the way it's gone this season - to have been involved in as many games as I have has been fantastic and a relief.
"I'm just disappointed I've missed one game through injury but hopefully I'll be able to get back into the team before the end of the season."
Jarvis meanwhile is looking forward to the team finishing off the season "on a high".
"Everyone's delighted - we've all been congratulating each other and it will be great if we can finish the season on a high."
