Jones' Contract Offer
The 25-year-old midfielder has become a growing influence on Wolves' season having suffered from injury during its first few months, and produced a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.
It was after the game that Mick revealed that Jones had joined Marcus Hahnemann and Jody Craddock in being offered new deals.
In Jones's case that will be an extension as his current contract expires in June, 2011.
"Dave has been injured in the early part of the season - he was getting over a knee problem and we had to protect him," said the boss.
"But we all know of his ability and his technical ability which is not in question.
"He had to get into the team and play and he has done it and he is another one we have offered a new contract to.
"He was excellent again on Saturday and showed a good understanding with Kevin Doyle."
The boss once again hailed Doyle's performance as well as that of Matt Jarvis, who caused Villa plenty of problems out wide.
As to why it is Wolves remained unbeaten against teams like Villa, Tottenham and Everton so far this season - and indeed how others have actually beaten those among the 'Big Four' - Mick isn't entirely sure.
But he knows that there remains much work to be done to guarantee similar fixtures again in the top flight next season.
He added: "I don't whether just generally there is a bit more belief that if you have a go at the better sides, you just might get something out of them rather than letting them dictate everything.
"Perhaps we have all shown a little bit more ambition and tried to attack teams and played with a bit more devilment.
"In our case yet we are not safe.
"We've got to go to West Ham and try and get something and if we do, then great.
"We'll just keep picking up points and see what we end up with."
