Ronald Zubar admits it was an afternoon of mixed feelings at Villa Park on Saturday.
Pleased with a point that Wolves would probably have taken prior to kick off but disappointment they didn't return with all three having been eight minutes away from a first win against their local rivals in 16 attempts.
"It's disappointing not to come away with all three points because we played a good game," said the Frenchman.
"It was a derby game and Aston Villa started very quickly and were on top for the first 20 minutes when we just had to stay in the game.
"They got the goal and we had to keep going and try and get forward ourselves.
"We got ourselves in front and knew at half time we would have to keep it tight in the second half.
"We had to do a lot of defending but we were keeping them out and so it's disappointing that they got their goal with eight minutes to go and that we didn't get all three points.
"But while there is disappointment we are also happy that we are going away from here with something.
"It's one of those that before the game I'm sure we'd have all taken a point from Aston Villa.
"Everyone knows Villa are a good team and are high up in the league but we were so close to taking all three points."
Zubar also believes another positive performance on their travels should help Wolves ahead of tomorrow's trip to West Ham, just a point and a place below the Molineux Men in the table.
"Saturday was a good performance and keeps confidence high for another big game tomorrow," he added.
"We've done well going away from home and there's always more pressure on a home team.
"We've got to do that again at West Ham because they need points like us.
"We feel confident at the moment and are playing well."
