Matt Jarvis today admitted it was one of the more "surreal" goals he has scored at Burnley on Saturday.
Jarvis showed great anticipation and pace to get on the end of Tyrone Mears' attempted back-header, flick the ball past Clarets keeper Brian Jensen and control before finding the net from all of one yard out!
It was a neat piece of play to take advantage of the Mears mistake, and the winger - now with three goals this season - admits he was boosted in his efforts by the knowledge that keeper Jensen had already been upended for bringing down Kevin Doyle.
"Knowing that the keeper had already been booked I thought he might not come out as quickly as he normally would," said Jarvis.
"I gambled on the defender heading it back to the keeper, got a little nick and that took me around the keeper.
"There seemed to be complete silence so I was worried I might have been offside or something but I anticipated it.
"It was probably going in anyway, but I just wanted to have another little touch to make sure.
"When everybody mobbed me that's when I finally realised it was a goal, but we deserved it.
"We had a good start and we got in behind them a few times.
"The goal gave us a bit more confidence and settled us down to ensure we had a real foothold in the game which proved to be decisive."
Jarvis admits it was always going to be a battle of nerves at Turf Moor given the two teams' close proximity in the Barclays Premier League table.
Even amid the delight of victory however, he knows the survival race will go right to the wire.
"It was a massive game for both teams," he explained.
"It was a very big win and getting three points is so important as we head towards the last nine games of the season.
"We've done extremely well to beat one of our rivals - everyone was buzzing going back on the bus.
"Every other team who was in trouble still is because the battle will go right to the wire.
"We're digging in and we've made a great start to the final few games.
"We were back in today working hard ready for Villa on Saturday because we want to get some more points then."
