Sylvan Ebanks-Blake admits it's been a frustrating time being on the outside looking in as he tries to regain his place in the Wolves starting line-up.
But the double Championship Golden Boot winner insists he's right behind his team-mates and is doing everything he can to force his way back into boss Mick McCarthy's plans.
And the confident 23-year-old also insists he hasn't lost faith in his goalscoring prowess as he bids to play a part in the remainder of the season.
"It's no secret that it's been a frustrating time for me," says Ebanks-Blake, whose last league start came against Wigan on January 16.
"I've gone from being a regular starter and playing well to having an indifferent season this year.
"I've had to learn a lot from being out of the team because it's very different not starting games to when you are and you see the other side of things.
"I've had to learn to do a bit more in training and keep my body and fitness up and keep my focus and my head right.
"That's all got to be ready for the time when I'm called upon.
"The gaffer picks the team and picks what he feels is the strongest team to win any given game.
"He's gone with one up front which has worked for us in recent games.
"I've just got to keep my head down and everything right to try and get back in.
"And if I'm called upon at what I believe is the business end of the season then I've got to be ready."
Ebanks-Blake's only goal this season came from the penalty spot against Aston Villa.
In other fixtures he has often found himself denied by superb saves, and believes he hasn't lost that predatory touch expected of a player who notched 25 goals in each of the previous two seasons in the Championship.
"It does play on my mind but I'm still a firm believer that I'm a goalscorer," he adds.
"It's what I was born to do.
"I don't know if anyone can name a goalscorer who hasn't had an indifferent spell for scoring goals.
"But I am fully focused on what lies ahead - I'm not living for the past, I'm living for the now and at the business end of the season I feel I've still got a part to play."
And like all those on the outside of the squad and fighting to get in, Ebanks-Blake is right behind the current starting eleven.
"I get on with it and try and stay upbeat around the place and do well in training and enjoy it," he said.
"I'm always rooting for the lads as well - we've got a great set of lads here and no one causes any problems.
"All of the squad get behind whichever team is playing and I've just got to be patient and wait for my opportunity."
