Sam Keen To Play It Again

Posted on: Tue 02 Feb 2010

Sam Vokes is hoping to add another FA Cup goal to his Wolves tally this evening if handed another opportunity at Crystal Palace.

The big striker has already chalked up two goals in four appearances in the competition for Wolves, against Birmingham and Middlesbrough last season, and started the draw against Crystal Palace ten days ago.

Relishing the battle for places having returned from a loan spell at Leeds, Vokes is hoping to once again impress if involved at Selhurst Park.

He said:  "I scored at Birmingham in the third round and then again in the fourth round against Middlesbrough, so it would be nice to repeat that again tonight.

"I also got my first start for Wolves against Palace earlier last season.

"We won 2-1 and Sylvan scored after 19 seconds so a repeat of that would be very nice.

"It's been great since I came back - I played 90 minutes against Palace in the first game which was good and I've been involved in the squad since.

"It's always going to be a challenge to get into the team because there are a lot of good strikers here - we've got six now, so it's always going to be hard to break into the squad.

"But so far it's been good. Since I've been back, I've felt good and sharp in training and I'm just looking for that first start in the Premier League now.

"I'm happy to stay here - it's great to be at Wolves at the moment and being involved in the squad every week.

"It's just a question of competing with the other strikers for those two places up front."

And Sam believes he's certainly learned from his loan spell at Elland Road operating at the top end of League One at a club with plenty of expectation.

He added:  "It was fantastic to get 10 games under my belt - I haven't probably had that run of matches since I was at Bournemouth.

"I came back feeling fit, fresh and raring to go."

"The FA Cup may be good for me because hopefully it will give me a chance to play in some games.

"That's what I'm here to do so hopefully I can force my way in."
