Greg Halford believes Wolves have the strength in depth to ensure they will climb out of the bottom three having emerged from two successive convincing defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Chelsea.

The away programme for December is equally testing - Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool - but at Molineux Wolves now have some huge fixtures in store against Birmingham, Bolton and Burnley.

And Greg believes they are the sort of games in which they will have to take points to ensure they make inroads up the Barclays Premier League table.

"Teams like Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool aren't going to make or break your season," he says.

"Playing against teams like Birmingham, Portsmouth and the teams around you, that's where we have to be picking up points.

"But if we can nick a few points off the top teams, then that'll be great as well."

The former Reading and Sunderland player continued:  "The squad here is the best squad that I've been in in the Premiership.

"We've got depth and a big squad and anyone can come in and do a good job.

"We have been creating a lot of chances but we just need that killer instinct.

"Our home form hasn't been great this year but if we can do anything like what Stoke did last year we will be fine - there's no reason why we can't do it, the fans at Molineux are great."

Although acknowledging the size of the task which faced Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Greg did share boss Mick McCarthy's view that defensive errors contributed to the team's downfall as they conceded three goals inside the first 22 minutes.

""They are the top club in the country at the minute and it was tough going there," he said.

"We went with a game plan and should have gone one-up in the first five minutes but if you don't put away those chances teams like Chelsea will punish you and that's what they did.

"We have been concentrating on set pieces because we have conceded a lot this season.

"We've been working on them so it was disappointing to concede the second goal in the way that we did.

"We tried to keep a solid shape and be patient because obviously they are going to have a lot of the ball but when we do get the ball we have to keep hold of it, and we didn't do that on Saturday.

"Chelsea have got a bit of everything.

"If they need to beat teams up they can do it, if they need to pass round teams they can do it - they've got everything."
