U's Are Calling For Danny Boy

Posted on: Thu 17 Sep 2009

Young defender Danny Batth is moving to League One side Colchester on a month's emergency loan.

Danny, who turns 19 on Monday, was one of seven Academy scholars to sign professional terms at the end of last season.

The 6ft 3in defender, who has impressed in Wolves' Barclays Premier Reserve League games so far, now has the chance to pick up some first team experience to aid his development.

Colchester, who recently appointed Aidy Boothroyd as manager, currently occupy seventh place in League One a point off the play-off zone.

The U's have been tracking his progress and watched him most recently in Tuesday's reserve game at West Ham.

The loan runs through until October 17, taking in six games in total kicking off with Saturday's home game with Hartlepool, Boothroyd's first on home soil at Colchester's Weston Homes Community Stadium.
