Richard Stearman believes Wolves haven't become a bad team overnight despite admitting Saturday's display at Blackburn was their "worst performance of the season".
The England-under-21 defender - like the rest of the squad - was hugely disappointed with the "off-day" suffered at Ewood Park in the 3-1 defeat, but is confident that a more ruthless edge at both ends of the pitch will see Wolves rediscover their early season competitive form.
"That was our worst performance of the season so far," said Stears.
"We started off o-k - it wasn't particularly pretty but we were in the game.
"But then we conceded a sloppy goal from our point of view which has lifted them and put us on the back foot.
"In this league it's going to be tough to come back from 1-0 down especially away from home.
"We're confident that we will always create chances and we did so again on Saturday.
"But we've got to be ruthless and put them away.
"That's not just in scoring goals but also in being ruthless defensively and keeping clean sheets.
"If we keep things tight we can stay in the game and give the strikers the chance to get us in front."
Wolves were back in training today with a full week to prepare for Sunday's Barclays Premier League game with Fulham.
Not only is that a week with the whole squad together but also the chance of a few of the injured personnel moving closer towards fitness.
"Saturday was a bad result but we don't become a bad team overnight," added Stears.
"We're going to have off-days - this is the best league in the world and if we come to any ground and are not 100 per cent and 'at it' then we'll get turned over.
"That's what happened at Blackburn.
"We've got a week now when the whole squad is together and hopefully a few boys will be back from injury.
"That could be vital to us and we've got a full week now to try and put things right."
