Greg Halford is confident Wolves will be more clinical when heading up to Wigan tomorrow after Saturday's defeat against West Ham.
The midfielder's delight at being handed his competitive Wolves debut was tempered by the opening day reverse against the Hammers, but he certainly believes there was plenty of promise in the performance.
He said: "It was nice to be in the starting line up but the result, at the end of the day, is what matters.
"I thought that our performance was there and that we should have gone in at half-time at least on equal terms. But it was all about the chances we missed.
"We created them but we need to start putting them away. They had half chances and stuck them both away.
"It's a lesson we have to learn and we have to learn it quickly as well as having to tighten up a bit and not allow half chances.
"Someone said to me that we deserved a point from the game but from my point of view I don't think West Ham could have complained if we had taken away all three points.
"Robert Green made two great saves from Nenad and me straight after the interval but he's an England international and that's what he's there for.
"As I've said, if we create chances then we need to take them and to be ruthless and that wasn't the case against West Ham.
"But we will look forward to the game at Wigan on Tuesday and hopefully rectify the mistakes we made on Saturday."
One feature which did stand out for Greg on his home debut was the impressive support from the Molineux crowd, who provided rousing support throughout the 90 minutes and applauded the team off at full time.
"The crowd was massive," he said.
"I think they appreciated how well we had played and they stayed right to the end.
"There's nothing worse for a player than to see fans leaving 15 minutes before the end. They were fantastic."
