Wolves dominated much of this competitive friendly with Milton Keynes Dons but they failed to convert any of the numerous chances they created and lost out to a first-half goal from former Molineux youth graduate Jermaine Easter.

There were some other familiar faces in the Milton Keynes side with Stephen Gleeson and Jemal Johnson both starting the game with Easter, whilst Lewis Gobern was named as a substitute.

The Dons are managed by former Molineux favourite Paul Ince and Alex Rae is now first team coach with the League One team.

There was an early chance for Jerome Thomas to make his mark. The former Charlton and Portsmouth winger, who is having a trial with Wolves, blazed a shot over the bar after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake had pulled the ball back to him with just 90 seconds gone.

Ebanks-Blake was too high with a first time effort from 25-yards and then the striker forced a diving save from Willy Gueret after a quick fire move involving George Elokobi and Sam Vokes.

A long-range free-kick from Nenad Milijaš hit the wall and bounced behind for a corner that was taken by the Serb with Gueret punching the ball away from the head of Vokes.

Richard Stearman made a timely tackle as Easter threatened to burst through before Thomas went off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury to be replaced by Stephen Ward.

The Irishman was soon involved providing a cross that Elliott Bennett knocked back to Ebanks-Blake whose shot drew a fine save from Gueret.

The French keeper then saved an overhead kick from Vokes after a Milijaš corner and his upfield punt led to the Dons taking the lead in the 39^th minute.

Stearman slipped as he attempted to clear leaving Easter to run on and beat Wayne Hennessey with an angled shot.

A mix up between Ugo Ehiogu and Dean Lewington gave Ebanks-Blake a chance but his stabbed shot from a tight angle went across the face of goal.

In stoppage time Vokes hooked the ball over the bar after Milijaš had fired in a free-kick from wide on the left.

Ebanks-Blake beat the home offside trap nine minutes into the second-half. He took the ball past Gueret but was forced wide by the keeper and his low cross was hacked clear by a defender.

Matt Jarvis, an interval substitute for Bennett, delivered a cross from the right that Ebanks-Blake controlled before shooting narrowly over the angle.

After both sides made a host of changes, Milton Keynes went close to a second as Easter headed Gobern's cross goalwards but Carl Ikeme was quickly off his line to claim.

From Greg Halford's corner Ward flicked the ball back but Andy Keogh couldn't direct his header towards goal.

Then Christophe Berra nodded Jarvis's corner into the heart of the area and Phil Ifill almost headed into his own goal as he turned the ball behind.

It was all Wolves in the closing stages but the Molineux men couldn't find the equaliser they deserved. With the last kick of the match Dave Edwards hooked the ball high and wide.
