VALE: Martin, Yates, Taylor, McCombe, Collins, Owen, Dodds, Fraser, Loft, Richards, Thompson.

WOLVES: Wright, Foley, Berra, Zubar, Elokobi, Bennett, Edwards, Ward, Jarvis, Vokes, Hemmings.

0: It's the second friendly in two nights for Wolves and another strong team. First start on British soil for new signing Ronald Zubar in the centre of defence alongside Christophe Berra. Academy keeper Daniel Wright gets a chance in goal with Ashley Hemmings partnering Sam Vokes up front. Vale include former Wolves defender Lee Collins in their starting line-up. Five minutes to kick off.

0: Off and running.  Approximately a couple of hundred Wolves fans behind Wright's goal and not quite the same atmosphere as at the Banks's last night!

4: First sight of goal falls to the hosts after Zubar clears for a throw-in deep inside Wolvs territory. The ball is worked to Tom Fraser whose first time drive is comfortably watched over the bar by Wright.

7: First glimpse of an opening for Wolves as Vokes produces a neat flick and turn to a pass from Ward inside the area.  Ball runs through to keeper Martin but was a neat turn.  Ward is operating alongside Edwards in the centre of midfield with Elliott Bennett on the right.

10: Announcement over tannoy that a supporter has left their lights on in the car park. No one has yet lit things up on the pitch inside the first ten minutes.

13: And there is the first spark as Vokes produces a great flicked header to Foley's channel ball to free Edwards in the centre. The midfielder does well to get a decent strike to the bouncing ball which flies just wide of the target.

14: Vale respond with an attack of their own and Richards heads against the underside of the bar but he'd been flagged offside in any case.

15: Bennett completes the more lively passage of play by trying his luck from distance but the ball flashes wide.

20: A quick passing Wolves move ends with Ward driving into the box after a one-two with Jarvis but Vale are able to clear before Wolves Mr Versatile is able to get a shot in.  Wolves keep up the pressure and Bennett puts in a teasing cross which Martin takes in front of Hemmings.

23: Pacey run from Jarvis who then crosses for Ward who has again got forward but twice has shots blocked.

24: Zubar slips inside the Wolves half to send Vale away but atones for his fall by getting back to win the ball back and receives a rousing ovation from the fans behind the goal.

34: Another quiet spell brought to life as Hemmings gets on the end of a through  ball which runs to Jarvis whose first time shot is gathered by Martin.

35: Change for Wolves as Hemmings limps off to be replaced by Academy striker James Spray.

37: Vale think they've taken the lead when Taylor is found in acres of space inside the area to head home Yates's cross. But the defence had done its job as former Walsall man Taylor is flagged for offside.

39: Well-worked corner between Bennett and Ward sees the latter send in a cross which Zubar meets with a looping header over the bar.

44: GOAL: LOFT 1-0.  Vale strike first.  Loft meets Dodds' cross with a powerful header to beat Wright and open the scoring.

HALF TIME: VALE 1-0 WOLVES

46: Back up and running and no Wolves changes.

49: Wolves first to show with Foley sending in a cross which Vokes is just unable to get on the end of.

53: Wolves started the second period strongly and Jarvis warms the hands of Vale's substitute keeper Tomlinson with a rasping shot which is parried away.

54: Wolves close again with more good work from Bennett down the right. This time the winger outpaces the full back before checking back onto his left foot and delivering a cross which Vokes heads wide.

55: GOAL: JARVIS 1-1. Wolves back on terms as Jarvis races in to dispossess McCombe and go on and fire home despite the outstretched hand of Tomlinson.

64: Big ovation for Wolves' first substitution as it heralds the return of Michael Kightly for his first competitive action since the Championship game with Nottingham Forest in late March.  Kightly comes on for Bennett.

66: Crowd revealed as 2003 including a contingent of 279 from Wolves.

69: Stand by your beds as Vale make no fewer than EIGHT substitutes. Beats dragging it out I suppose.  Among their number is Vale's new player coach Geoff Horsfield.

70: One of the subs - Robert Taylor (no not him!) - almost makes an immediate impression with a shot from distance which flies just wide.

75: Jarvis almost in for his second as he's found in space on the left. This time the winger's shot is met with a strong hand from keeper Tomlinson for a fine save.

80: Wolves doing most of the pressing now but the much-changed Vale outfit still looking a threat in attack.

86: Ward gets to the byline and fires in a great cross which has to be cleared almost from on his goaline by Prosser. Meanwhile here's a picture of one of Wolves' main men back in action.

Michael Kightly

87: GOAL 2-1: ROBERT TAYLOR. But Vale now go back in front as Taylor latches on to a Horsfield flick-on and fires a clinical shot into the bottom corner.

90: Wolves go close to an equaliser as Vokes heads wide from Ward's cross. Nice touch from the tannoy announcer thanking Mick McCarthy for bringing Wolves to Vale Park and wishing them all the best for the new season.

90+1: Some frantic attacking from Wolves in the closing stages causes a couple of goalmouth scrambles but Vale hang firm.
