Mick On Milijaš

Posted on: Fri 03 Jul 2009

Mick McCarthy has revealed just what new midfielder Nenas Milijaš will bring to the Barclays Premier League party after the midfielder received his work permit.

Mick and CEO Jez Moxey travelled to an appeal hearing convened by the Football Association yesterday which decided that the Serbian star should receive a permit to play his football in England.

The 26-year-old, who checked in at Wolves almost three weeks ago to sign his four-year contract, can now commit all his energies on preparing for the Premier League as he joins up with the pre-season tour of Australia early next week.

"He'll certainly bring quality to us," said Mick.

"He's 6ft 1ins tall, as big as me, left-footed, and is a very comfortable player who can operate in different positions.

"He 'sits' for the national side and he played in behind the front two when I saw him play for Red Star Belgrade and I've seen on a number of DVDs he's a quality player.

"He can slot people in, he scores goals and he's an all round top midfield player."

Mick was also impressed with Nenad's personality and ambition when meeting him to discuss the proposed transfer.

"There's no problem with his character and we've also got good contacts within Serbia," he added.

"Everybody has given him a glowing report really.

"Raddy Antic, of course, was the national team coach, who I know, and he gave him a good recommendation.

"And, having met him, he impressed me. His left foot gives us plenty of balance."
