Chris Iwelumo today revealed he hasn't ruled out a possible return to action this season following the knee ligament injury sustained at Birmingham ten days ago.
The 16-goal striker is on the road to recovery after being forced out of the action at St Andrew's after a challenge from Lee Carsley, and is set to undergo injections to speed up the process.
And while he knows it may prove difficult, he is hoping to be available for the final game of the season against Doncaster on May 3.
"I've certainly not ruled anything out and am looking on the positives of trying to be fit maybe for the last match," he says.
"I'm due for injections tonight and if the reaction's good I'll be able to start stepping things up.
"I've done bits and pieces in training, all very light and not too strenuous, but it's going well.
"It would be great to be involved in some capacity and that's what I'm aiming for.
"It could have been so much worse and people that have seen the tackle would have thought I could be out for a year.
"I'm buzzing that I can still say I've got a chance of featuring in the last game."
Chris admits it is "hurting" not to be involved at such a crucial stage of the season with Wolves in search of the one win which would guarantee promotion.
But he is also full of praise for the likes of Andy Keogh and Sam Vokes who have come into the team and chipped in with crucial goals.
"It does hurt not to be involved at this stage of the season when we've done so well for so long," adds Chris.
"To watch the boys come in for strappings every morning and then go out training is difficult.
"You still feel part of it but you're missing out on the banter out on the training pitch and in the warm-up and what have you.
"That's a massive part of being a footballer and it does get you a little bit down but there's always a positive side and the boys have done fantastically well over the last two games.
"Keogh and Vokesey have been awesome, different class.
"The gaffer asked the question with Sylvan, myself and Kights out about who's going to step up and make the headlines.
"Vokesey and Keogh have stepped up, Jonah's stepped up, and fair play to them all, that's what it's all about.
"I've said from day one it's a squad game and everyone has stepped up and done their bit."
