Keeping Up The Pressure

Posted on: Tue 14 Apr 2009

Andy Keogh today insisted no one will be taking their "foot off the pedal" at Wolves as they moved within sight of possible promotion to the Premier League.

Yesterday's exhilarating win at Derby, coupled with results elsewhere, has left Wolves just one win away of clinching a top flight berth heading into the final three games of the season.

It was also another example of the "fighting spirit" which Andy believes has underpinned Wolves' efforts so far this season and indeed the continuing desire to get the job done.

"We've been up there all season and we're not about to throw anything away," said Wolves' two-goal hero at Pride Park.

"Our fighting spirit was there for all to see yesterday and anyone who wants to play Wolves knows they're in for a hard game.

"It would be silly to take our foot off the pedal because we want to be promoted, and as champions.

"The results were good for us but we've still got a job to do.

"Until it's mathematically impossible for us not to be up, there will be no celebrations for us just yet.

"We've gone about our business very professionally all season and we're not about to slip up now with a couple of games to go."

On his own performance, the Irish international was delighted with the goals at either end of the afternoon which helped secure the potentially pivotal three points.

But he was even more pleased with the team's display as they came back from 2-1 behind to win 3-2.

"The lads dug deep yesterday," he added.

"We were disappointed going behind but if I'm being honest, Derby probably deserved it.

"They outplayed us for a while but it just shows the character the lads have shown all season and how much we work for each other to come back like we did.

"You could see what it meant to us when went 3-2 ahead - the whole bench was down with us celebrating in the corner.

"It means so much to everyone at the club and it's just a great feeling."
