Daring To Dream

Posted on: Wed 25 Mar 2009

Karl Henry admits he has already dared to dream about Wolves winning the Championship.

But the skipper knows there is still a long way to go if Wolves are to register what the Wolverhampton-born midfielder insists would be a "massive achievement".

With Birmingham next up around the corner, Karl believes the whole squad are well aware there is plenty of work still to be done to transform their dreams into a reality.

"I have dreamt about lifting the Championship trophy," says Karl.

"If we get promoted it will be massive for everyone associated with the club but for me being the local lad in the team I admit I will be the first one jumping up and throwing everything around the room.

"I look forward to that day and hope and pray it happens now.

"It is so important for all if us. I think you can see recently just how good the support is and it would be fantastic for the fans if we could go straight up.

"I think the supporters have realised that at times they have to be patient and that sometimes the way that teams set up against us we can't just be free flowing like we were in the first half of the season.

"But the support against Nottingham Forest on Saturday was again fantastic.

"When they get behind us it is tremendous out there and such a nice feeling.

"We are getting so close now and it is a really exciting time for the club.

"But we have to just keep our feet on the ground now and take each game as it comes.

"This is a difficult league and teams are fighting at the top and the bottom as our game at Forest showed."

Wolves have come out of a sticky spell of results by taking 13 points from the last five games.

Karl believes it's been down to the solid values of hard work and not getting too down-hearted.

"I put our change of form down to persistence," he says.

"We knew we were going to get these wins again and I'm just glad it has come sooner rather than later.

"No one got down about those losses we just kept working hard and the manager and the coaching staff kept our feet on the ground and made sure that we kept going back to basics and doing the things that got us there in the first place.

"You need a bit of luck at times too. We have had chances hit the post and things like that but now we are kicking on now and things are falling right for us.

"If we go on and win it will probably be the proudest moment in my career. Fingers crossed we can keep it going."
