Berra "Excited" By Challenge

Posted on: Mon 02 Feb 2009

Christophe Berra today revealed he is "really excited" to have signed a four-and-a-half year contract and agreed a move to Wolves.

The Scottish international defender has been a long-standing target of Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, and having watched Saturday's game with Watford from the Directors Box completed his medical over the weekend before the deal was completed this morning.

The wintry weather may have hampered any hopes he had of getting a first day's training in today, but that has not dampened his delight in sealing a move to Molineux.

"I'm really excited to be coming to Wolves," he said.

"It's am ambitious club with a lot of good, young players who want to get into the Premier League and I'm no different.

"I know my first challenge is just to get into the team because they're on top of the league and have been doing well but it's one I'm ready for and am looking forward to.

"I'm leaving behind some good friends and some good people at Hearts but when you want to play at the highest level sometimes you have to move on.

"I'll hopefully get back up at some stage to say my goodbyes.

"Now it's time to look forward and my new challenge."

Christophe, who has been handed the squad number 16, will be available for tomorrow's Championship game with Norwich at Molineux.
