Michael Kightly today insisted there's no need to panic after a levelling off to Wolves' excellent start to the season - highlighting the fact the club remain second in the Championship table.

A draw and seven successive wins has been followed by a run of one win in four - including Tuesday's 5-2 defeat at Norwich -  which saw Wolves toppled from the top of the table ahead of tomorrow's trip to Watford.

But Kights insists there is no doom and gloom among the players and staff - more like a keenness and determination to get back out there.

"It's really important not to panic," he says.

"Look at the table - we're second.

"We've lost three in four but you have to look at our situation: myself and Matt Jarvis got injured against Reading, we conceded an early goal, at Swansea we were without a lot of players and conceded early again.

"These are big things for us. Conceding early is the biggest crime - even though we managed to get ourselves out of it against Coventry and on Tuesday we weren't good enough.

"It's the same squad that went on that mad run at the start of the season and we've just got to stick together and get through it to get back to winning ways.

"Tuesday was my first real loss of the season - we lost against Reading and I was disappointed, but I didn't finish the game and I was more concerned about my injury.

"So Tuesday's game left me with a horrible feeling and hopefully we can stop that from coming back."

The Coventry game mentioned by Kights offered a prime example of Wolves battling through to win a game without hitting the heights in terms of performance.

And he believes there'll be more of the same required over the coming weeks and months of the season.

"As the season goes on, you probably have to win ugly more times in this league than pretty," he added.

"At the start of the season we were blowing teams away, but it's never always like that in this league.

"You will play the so-called 'smaller' teams in the division - if there is such a thing - and it will be one of the toughest games of the season.

"All the games are dogged really and Watford are known for being pretty direct and we have to deal with that."

Kights meanwhile has been nominated for the PFA 2UP Championship Fans Player of the Month award for October alongside Birmingham's Kevin Phillips, Plymouth's Paul Gallagher and Reading's Kevin Doyle.

The winger has already won the September accolade which will be presented prior to Tuesday's game with Swansea.
