Carlos Edwards Joins On Loan
Wolves today moved to compensate for the loss of injured wingers Michael Kightly and Matt Jarvis by snapping up Sunderland's Carlos Edwards on a three-month loan.
Carlos, who will be 30 later this month, arrived at the Compton training ground this morning to complete the deal and will go straight into the squad for the weekend's trip to Swansea.
Boss Mick McCarthy is delighted to have landed the Trinidad & Tobago international whose performances after arriving on Wearside in January of last year played a big part in helping Sunderland into the Premier League.
Carlos's opportunities in the top division have been more limited since then and he has only made two appearances this season but his exciting wingplay and eye for goal are certainly in keeping with Wolves' attacking ethos.
"I'm delighted we've managed to bring Carlos in," said Mick.
"We've lost one winger long-term and another short-term but have got a very good replacement.
"Carlos is a quality player who can operate on either wing and is someone we know a lot about.
"He was very impressive for Sunderland in the Championship and has also played a fair few games in the Premier League so arrives here with a good pedigree."
Carlos began his career in Trinidad before joining Wrexham in 2000 where he made almost 200 appearances and scored 25 goals.
His form there earned him a £1.4million move to Sunderland in January, 2007.
Wolves have acted swiftly after losing Matt and Michael to injuries in Tuesday night's game against Reading.
Carlos's loan is due to expire on December 28.
