Keogh Ready To Kick On
Andy Keogh heads into possible
The Wolves frontman made some excellent first impressions under Trapattoni in the end-of-season internationals, not only scoring his first senior goal for his country against
Andy was sent away with a document detailing ways to improve his game over the summer, and admits he is relishing operating under Trapattoni and his assistant Liam Brady.
"Trapattoni is a great manager and Liam was a great player," he says.
"The gaffer has a lot of knowledge about the game and he's just trying to pass that on, so that can only benefit me.
"We've had chats and discussed things. He sent me a letter at the end of the training camp telling me things he wants me to work on, which I've been doing anyway.
"It's just things about my all-round game he wants me to develop, such as technique, because if it improves me, it will improve the team.
"He's picked out some things that need to be worked on more than others such as your worse foot.
"He knows what's going on - he's very in-depth which is good."
Despite some initial confusion about whether he'd been named in the squad, Andy's Wolves' team-mate Kevin Foley is not with the Irish party this week, not ultimately required having been named on standby.
But Andy believes the ultra-consistent right back can't be too far away from a first senior cap.
"Kev has been one of Wolves' most consistent performers," he says.
"When someone such as Steve Finnan comes back out of retirement, it's hard for Kev to get back in because Steve's a quality player who's established in the Premier League.
"There's also John O'Shea and Stephen Kelly who played in the Premier League last season.
"There's only one position there so it's tough, but if Kev keeps plugging away, he'll eventually get his cap and the chance to nail the spot down, I'm sure."
