Super Sam!
Forget Superman - it was a case for Super Sam at Home Park on Saturday as debutant Wolves striker Sam Vokes came off the bench to provide the crucial second equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Plymouth.
Sam showed nerves of steel to provide two superb first competitive touches in a Wolves shirt after replacing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, executing an inch perfect 'one-two' with fellow substitute Chris Iwelumo before dispatching a clinical shot past Graham Stack.
The goal was timed at just 92 seconds after Sam had entered the fray during the game's closing stages, which must surely go down as one of the more spectacular debuts of Wolves' history.
"I'm buzzing with that," the 18-year-old admitted amid the post-match downpours after the 2-2 draw.
"On my debut, to come on and make an impact like that is obviously really pleasing.
"I don't remember too much about the move to be fair, it just came to me and I tucked it away.
"On a personal note it doesn't get much better because I just wanted to get on from the bench and do what I do but it was great to get the equaliser."
It is perhaps a sign of the Welsh international's ambitions and maturity that he remained completely unfazed by the dramatic nature of his impact, not least as he immediately set his sights on personal and collective improvement in the games to come.
"I think we should have won the game but at least we came away with a draw from what were terrible conditions," he acknowledged.
"The main thing for us though is that we've got to improve on that.
"We've got to win these sort of games if we are going to push for anything.
"Coming away with the point isn't the worst but we've got to be looking at three.
"We showed a lot going forward and showed the different options we've got as well.
"The team did well in the conditions but if we want to do anything this season we've got to be looking for three points and we'll be looking to improve next week."
