Players Get Behind Wolves Aid

Posted on: Tue 05 Aug 2008

Wolves' players and backroom staff  have thrown their weight behind the club's official charity, Wolves Aid. The First Team squad posed with a pitch side advertising hoarding, donated by the club, which is designed to increase Wolves Aid's profile in the local community and beyond.

According to the Football League Trust, Wolves Aid is the biggest club charity of its type in football, donating £150,000 a year to charities and community groups in Wolverhampton and the surrounding area. Rachael Heyhoe-Flint, Wolves Aid Ambassador, said: "We're very proud to have the biggest club charity in football. We are making a real difference to the local community where the majority of our fans and their families live and work. Already we've helped the likes of Penn Hall Special School, Wolverhampton Multi-Care and BDF Newlife.

"We're very grateful for this latest move by the players to increase the awareness of Wolves Aid. They've already show their commitment by supporting Penn Hall Special School with a one-off player's calendar.

"We want to see even more applications from qualifying local charities and community groups. We'd encourage anyone who is interested to check out www.wolves-aid.co.uk for more details."
