Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has revealed Ian Harte has been offered a short-term contract at Wolves which he is considering over the weekend.

Ian, who came on in the latter stages of this afternoon's friendly with Blackburn, is currently a free agent and has spent the last three weeks on a prolonged trial at Wolves.

"Ian will come back to me on Monday," said Mick.

"We're trying to get something together for him to stay and I'd like him to come back and be around but he'll think about it over the weekend and come back to me.

"It would be a short term contract, and the offer is there.

"I would like him to try and earn a longer contract and if he does I'll be thrilled.

"But the decision's with him.

"He loves it here and wants to stay but it's up to him what he wants to do.

"Is he at the stage of his career where he wants a short term contract?

"It's up to him so we'll wait and see."
