First Goals For New Boys

Wolves 3 (Iwelumo 24, 56, Vokes 32)

Wolves wound up their Scottish tour with a convincing win against Kilmarnock.

Chris Iwelumo, with a brace, and Sam Vokes were the men on target with both scoring their first goals for the club.

Killie almost took a third minute lead after Neill Collins had fouled Danny Invincible 25-yards out and in a central position. Danny Locke curled the resultant free-kick over the wall forcing Carl Ikeme into a full length diving save.

David Edwards was way off target with a 20-yard volley after Iwelumo had knocked the ball into his path before David Lilley's foul on Iwelumo led to Wolves taking a 24th minute lead.

Michael Gray curled the free-kick into the box and Iwelumo climbed high at the far post to head past French keeper Damien Rascle from six-yards out.

Matt Jarvis hit an angled drive that flew wide and, to the amusement of the crowd, drew a fine save from substitute George Elokobi who was warming up to the side of the goal.

But Jarvis had a major role in Wolves' second goal which arrived in the 32nd minute. Rascle did well to block the winger's drive but Jarvis regained possession and hit a short, low cross that Vokes lashed into the net from just a yard out.

Before the game restarted Vokes was replaced by David Jones having suffered a dead leg.

A corner from Gray was half cleared to David Jones who returned the ball into the box where Neill Collins turned and almost found the net with a scooped shot that Rascle took above his head.

Rascle then parried a fierce volley from Gary before, in the final minute of the half, Invincible wasted Kilmarnock's best chance by shooting over the bar from close in after a cross from Jamie Hamill.

Half-Time: Kilmarnock 0 Wolves 2

Only a smart save from Ikeme prevented Frazer Wright from reducing the deficit shortly after the restart. Wright got in a powerful header following Locke's free-kick.

Locke figured again when his corner was headed narrowly wide by substitute Ryan O'Leary.

But Wolves went three up with 56 minutes gone - Iwelumo's diving header eluding substitute keeper Chas Harpur and creeping in at the far post.

Davies almost added a fourth with a tremendous effort from the edge of the box that bounced clear off Harpur.

Play became fragmented after the hour mark with the two sides making a total of 13 substitutions between them.

Five minutes from time Iain Flannigan broke down the right and unleashed a shot that went narrowly wide of the far post as Wolves finished the tour unbeaten having conceded just one goal in the three games played.
