Mick McCarthy has admitted it is unlikely Seyi Olofinjana will still be a Wolves player next season - but that he'd love it if he was.

Seyi, who attended last week's friendly with Hereford having spent much of the summer on international duty, is back training at Compton this week with the remaining members of the first team squad who have not travelled to Scotland for the pre-season tour.

He remains available for transfer as part of an agreement in place when he signed a new four-year contract last October as he tries to pursue his dream of Premier League football.

Mick is planning to be without the midfielder next season, but football being football would certainly welcome him back if that's how events transpired.

"I saw Seyi at the Hereford game and he was back in training on Thursday, Friday and all weekend at Compton," said Mick.

"He's not going to be coming up to Scotland and I'm planning without him.

"I'd love him to stay but he'll end up going.

"I have an agreement with him, I wanted him to stay last season and I hoped we'd get up.

"He's a Premier League player and if gets the opportunity, he'll go.

"If he doesn't go, it won't break my mind to have him back - it wouldn't take long to pick up the pieces because he's a fabulous player."

Mick actually believes Seyi will prove to be an even better player in the Premier League than the Championship.

"There will be a club for him," he added.

"I'm confident for him because he's a good player.

"Everyone I've spoken to, I've said 'take him' because if I was a Premier League manager, I'd sign him - he's that good.

"He'll probably be better in the Premier League than he was in the Championship."
