Sylvan Grabs Late Winner At Dens Park
Dundee 0
Wolves 1 (Ebanks-Blake 90)
Wolves began their Scottish tour on a winning note at Dundee thanks to a last minute strike from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
Wanderers had almost taken the lead inside the first minute when Daniel Jones' goalbound shot hit a defender and ballooned over the bar.
The visitors enjoyed most of the attacking play in the opening minutes but there was a chance for Dundee when the ball dropped into the path of former Molineux midfielder Colin Cameron but his chip didn't have enough height to trouble Carl Ikeme.
Neill Collins headed wide after David Jones had floated a free-kick into the box, and Colin McMenamin hooked wide of Ikeme's far post when he survived an offside appeal as he ran onto Eric Paton's low cross.
In the 15th minute Sam Vokes found the back of the Dundee net but he was penalised for a push and his effort was ruled out.
Mark Gilhaney wasted a good opportunity when he cut into the Wolves area and fired straight into the arms of Ikeme before, at the other end, Vokes powered a header wide after a cross from Kevin Foley.
Last ditch clearances came to the rescue of both sides as the half drew to a close with Richard Stearman getting a foot to McHale's low driven centre into the six-yard box, and Paton clearing at the expense of a corner as Vokes raced through on goal.
Half-Time: Dundee 0 Wolves 0
Mick McCarthy changed the entire team for the new half which was in its seventh minute when Chris Iwelumo knocked a Matt Jarvis centre into the path of Michael Kightly who sidestepped two defenders before shooting wide.
Douglas then claimed a Jarvis header at his near post as the winger attempted to nod Kightly's cross back into the danger area. The former Celtic and Leicester keeper then dived to take a low shot from Ebanks-Blake.
He was beaten by Iwelumo's header in the 69th minute after another Kightly cross but, to the dismay of the Wolves fans behind the goal, the ball hit the post and was cleared.
Ebanks-Blake just failed to get a foot to Stephen Ward's low cross, and Jarvis drove inches wide of the far post as he connected with a deep ball into the box from Mark Little.
With the game in its last minute, and a goalless draw looking a certainty, Wolves snatched a winner.
Iwelumo knocked Jarvis's centre to Kightly who, in turn laid a pass into the path of Ebanks-Blake who lashed the ball into the net from 12-yards out.
