George Elokobi is pleased to hear he could yet be lining up against Plymouth defender Krisztian Timar on the first day of next season following the pair's horror collision at Molineux in May.

George and Krisztian went into a strong aerial challenge on the final day of last season which left the Plymouth defender with a fractured skull and damage to his nose and cheek which ultimately required major surgery.

There were fears the Hungarian could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as a result of the accidental clash, but he has reported for pre-season training as normal and is set to start ball work next week with some form of head protection.

Plymouth physio Paul Maxwell believes the 28-year-old may yet be ready to feature in the first game of the season on August 9, which is of course against Wolves at Home Park.

"That's very good to hear," says George.

"I haven't managed to speak to him over the summer but I'm really pleased he is making good progress.

"As I said at the time it was an honest challenge with both of us going for the ball and I wouldn't have wished an injury like that on anyone.

"It's strange that our very next game is against Plymouth as well and it would be nice if he is able to play.

"I'm sure I will seek him out to shake his hand and have a chat and then we will both get on with another game of football."
