Seyi Olofinjana will head into the new season with two overriding ambitions - helping Wolves reach the Premier League and Nigeria qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

And his pursuit of that international ambition has seen Seyi extending his season with the Super Eagles.

Nigeria have already played three qualification games this month, which double up both for the 2010 World Cup and the African Nations Cup taking place earlier the same year.

Seyi has featured in all three, coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 win against South Africa and 1-0 victory against Sierra Leone and playing the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 win against Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria face the return qualifier with Equatorial Guinea tomorrow which is their last competitive action until September.

"For me, it's about setting short and long term goals and trying to achieve them," says Seyi.

"Getting Wolves into the Premier League is the short term goal and getting to the World Cup finals in South Africa in 2010 with Nigeria is another and both are realistic."

Having given an honest assessment that he dipped below his expected standards last season, Seyi is already looking forward to putting things right during the new campaign.

And that includes returning to the sort of goalscoring form which made him Wolves' top scorer with ten goals during the 2006/07 season.

"I just want to do my job and improve on my weaknesses and I've got one or two of those," he acknowledges.

"I was disappointed with myself last season -scoring three goals wasn't good enough.

"If I'd scored a few more maybe we'd have won more games and wouldn't have ended up missing the play-offs."

Meanwhile as Wolves continue efforts to strengthen the squad this summer, Seyi admits he would welcome the arrival of any new midfielders.

"It would never be a problem if good midfielders come to the club," adds the 28-year-old.

"It would be good and healthy competition."
